Cause Mapping Public Workshop FAQs
Is this Cause Mapping workshop just for people who lead complex incident investigations?
While Cause Mapping is an excellent tool to improve your ability to facilitate a complex investigation, the lessons learned can be universally applied to basic problem solving and problem communication. In fact, even if you aren't building a Cause Map, the workshop teaches you why people argue and debate, and provides approaches for managing even day-to-day problems within your organization and personal life.
Are there any prerequisites to this workshop?
There are no prerequisites.
What do I need to bring with me to the workshop?
Day 3 of the workshop is focused on using the Microsoft Excel Cause Mapping Template, so you will need a laptop computer with an external mouse. The computer will need to have Microsoft Excel loaded as well. The Cause Mapping template is compatible with any version of Excel (2010, 2013, 2016)
Why do I need an external mouse?
Yes, many of the Excel shortcuts require moving boxes while at the same time pressing and holding specific keys on the keyboard. This is significantly easier using an external mouse versus trying to manipulate with the touchpad on your computer.
I have a Mac computer with Excel. Will that work for Day 3?
While you can use a Mac with Excel, some of the shortcut functions are a little different.
What will I receive at the workshop?
Each attendee will receive:
- Cause Mapping Workbook that follows the workshop examples, containing all of the Cause Mapping concepts, steps, examples and exercises that are covered in the workshop
- Cause Mapping Poster
- Cause Mapping Template and other electronic files used during the workshop
- One hour of post workshop support to get your Cause Mapping efforts going.
What time does the workshop start and end?
The workshop is three full days ending a little earlier on the third day to allow for evening flights to be made.
- Day 1: 8:00AM - 4:30PM
- Day 2: 8:00AM - 4:30PM
- Day 3: 8:00AM - 3:00PM
What if I can't make it to the workshop?
No problem. You can substitute in a colleague - just let us know who is coming so we can update the registration. Or if you would like to be transferred to another workshop, just let us know at least 3 business days prior and we'll get you switched at no cost.
What is cancellation / refund policy?
Registration fees are fully refundable if cancelled at least 7 days prior to the start of the workshop.
I am not able to travel to a workshop, do you have an online offering of this workshop?
