Kim has a Master of Science in Engineering Science (Mechanical Engineering) from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. She is a licensed Professional Engineer (Mechanical Engineering).

Prior to joining ThinkReliability in 2007, Kim worked for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program in the Surface Ships fluid system division. She is a mechanical engineer, consultant and blogger, obsessive reader, and big believer in lifelong learning.
